The preferred mode of transport has taken an unlikely turn in recent years. Before the car was transport of choice but recently however the use of push bikes has become increasingly popular. Perhaps the trend can be put down to 'green' thinking, or maybe just the prices of gas are starting to get to people. Whatever the reason, there are more cyclists on the road than ever. We’d be lying if we tried to tell you that fashion shouldn’t play into your choice. We all like one color or style more than another. Your new bike should reflect your favorites. Using style and fashion preferences as your main criteria is silly, unless you are only getting a bike to look good. Excellent safety and comfort should be the first criteria met by your new bike. After finding bikes that are both safe and comfy, then you can see which ones look the best to you. Believe it or not, your bicycle seat should not sit at its lowest setting, resting against the crossbar. Be sure to consider these few necessary inches between the seat and the crossbar, when you are out bicycle shopping. When you bring the seat up a few inches, you are going to have more room between the crossbar and you, and this will make for a much more comfortable ride. You want to be able to sit on the bike and place your foot on the pedal at the lowest position, and almost be able to fully extend your leg.

It is important that you allow adequate room between you and the crossbar. When you get a bike be sure to move the seat up a couple of inches from the crossbar. Make sure you can place both feet on the ground if need be. Each type of bike will require differing clearance amounts. As an example, with a touring bike you will only require around 1". With a mountain bike a clearance of 3" will be necessary. You have many things to consider when getting a bicycle. For some folks, sturdiness and stability will be a factor because they will need a bike that can take a lot of wear and tear. You may simply be looking for the bike least likely to malfunction because you rely on it to get around. Price may be the biggest thing you want to consider. Research is important when visit purchasing anything, especially a bike. You will also want to shop around to find the best deal. Buying the first bike you find is not advised, in doing this you could end up with a terrible bike and miss out on one that is perfect for you.
